Downpatrick travelled out to Ardglass to play the current league leaders, and they came home with all three points in what turned out to be an excellent performance. 14’s Progress In The Shield

Saturday 4th October – Lisburn Invitational Junior Shield under 14’s Round 1

Downpatrick went into this round 1 Shield match without their top scorer Eoin Rooney due to illness but they eventually progressed to the second round with a superb second half performance. Under 16’s Maintain Winning Run

Saturday 4th October – Lisburn Invitational Junior League – under 16’s

Downpatrick FC 4 v’s North Belfast 2

With all other team playing in the Shield Downpatrick had the opportunity to go top of the league and they made the perfect start. Downpatrick took centre and the ball was played back to Conor Breen who passed it forward to Eoin Darragh, Darragh passed to Callum Shields who played in strike partner Ben Curran who slammed the ball home with only 25 seconds on the clock. Saturday’s match saw the top two go head to head and this game didn’t disappoint, with some fine football played by both sides. Downpatrick started of the game well and controlled the early exchanges, playing some neat passes to move the ball from back to front very quickly. They created a few chances in the opening ten minutes but Eoin Rooney and Ruairi Quinn couldn’t find the final touch to score. Continue reading
