Club Notes – Week Beginning 04/02/19

• This first team returned to league action on Saturday when they travelled to play Ards Rangers, unfortunately they lost 3 nil, this Saturday they welcome Albert Foundry to Rosconnor. Kick off for this match is 2.00pm.
• The ladies began their circuit training on Monday night under the coaching of Tony Boyle in Murphy’s Bar, this training continues every Monday night and costs £3.00. Then on Wednesday night the ladies meet at Downshire Car Park at 7pm, all old and new players are welcome.
• The under 19’s played against Lisburn Distillery on Friday night, after an intense start Downpatrick settled into the game and had the majority of the possession with Adam Jervis and Corey McCoubrey dominating the midfield. After 25 minutes Dara McDonald broke down the left wing and cut inside and fired his shot into the bottom right corner to give his side a deserved lead. Just before halftime Downpatrick were caught out by a poor offside decision and Distillery levelled. With Drew Barnes setting up attack after attack it was only a matter of time before Downpatrick took the lead again, which they did through Barnes as he played a one two with Joe Healy and then Barnes fired home. In the last minute Downpatrick conceded a penalty which the Distillery striker scored to level the game at 2-2. This week they play Woodvale on Friday night at the Aurora 3G Pitch, this match kicks off at 8.10pm.
• The under 17’s were eliminated from the cup by a well drilled Rosario team. This Saturday they play Saintfield United on Saturday morning in the league, this match is at the Loughmoss Pitches with a 11.00am kick off.
• The under 15’s travel to play Castlewellan on Saturday morning looking to secure three points which will clinch the league title, this match kicks off at 9.30am.
• The under 13’s play neighbours Tollymore on Saturday morning in the cup. The venue and kick off time is still to be decided.
• The under 12’s (2007’s) play Oxford Sunnyside at the Lisburn Leisureplex Pitch this Saturday, the match kicks off at 11.00am.
• The 2008’s play Lisburn Youth Colts in the cup on Saturday morning at Lisburn Leisureplex, this match kicks off at 12.00pm.
• Our Mini Soccer continues every Monday from 6.00pm – 7.00pm at the Red High 3G Pitch. This training is for children born in the following years 2009, 2010 & 2011. Players are asked to dress for the weather, wear football boots and shin guards. All old and new players are welcome. For more information contact Paul Moore on 07549 661772.
• Training for our 2012 and 2013 age groups is also on a Monday night at the Red High 3G Pitch from 6.00pm – 7.00pm, please note that children will be outdoors and it’s important they are dressed for the weather and are wearing shin guards and football boots.
