Downpatrick FC 5 v’s Dundonald 3 Downpatrick opened the scoring through Peter Telford in the opening ten minutes.Downpatrick broke down the right hand side through Andrew Telford who crossed the ball for his brother to side foot the ball into the net. This lead was short lived, two minutes after going in front Downpatrick found themselves on level terms when a long ball caught the home sides defence sleeping and the Dundonald striker gave Michael McKenna no chance. Downpatrick were back in front on the 15 minute mark through Aaron McGarry’s tap in after Peter Telford’s initial effort was saved by the Dundonald keeper.
On 25 minutes Dundonald drew level again through a spectacular shot from their right winger. Five minutes later Downpatrick went in front again, Conor McKenna played in winger Barry Treacy down the right side, he crossed the ball into the box, and Andrew Telford dummied the ball for Andy Baggley to control the ball, turn and score with a left footed shot.

The opening fifteen minutes of the second half saw Downpatrick passing the ball around with a lot of confidence and they got their reward on the hour mark when Conor McKenna won a corner. The corner was crossed in by Treacy and was met by Peter Telford to head the ball into the net for his second goal of the game.
The home side secured all three points with twenty minutes remaining after a fast flowing phase of play involving five players, Chris McDowell started the move off from left back, he passed it into Conor McKenna in midfield, and he played the ball to substitute Chrissy Mullan on the left wing. Mullan be a couple of players and got to the by-line before pulling the ball back for Andrew Telford to side foot the ball into the net.
