Downpatrick FC 6 v Carniny FC 3
Downpatrick played Carniny on Friday night in the supplementary cup and came away with a comprehensive victory inspired by Declan Burns. The game started at a frantic pace with both teams trying to gain control, a positional change saw Burns moved out to right of midfield and was immediately found by Healy, Burns cut inside and hit a rocket into the bottom corner giving the keeper no chance.
Within minutes Burns doubled his tally with another fine run from the right this time finding the top right corner of the net. Downpatrick then conceded a soft penalty which was finished well. Burns completed his hat-trick before half time when he latched onto a cross fro Declan Looney and volleyed in off the far post.

With Healy sitting in front of the back four Carniny posed little threat and his midfield partner Kian Tierney was dictating the tempo of the game, created a host of chances for His teammates. Within ten minutes of the second half gone Burns turned provider when he crosses to near post for Andrew McCoubrey to volley into the net.
Downpatrick conceded to a bit of brilliance from the Carniny winger when he lashed a shot from the edge of the box into the top corner giving Conor Logue no chance. Corey McCoubrey picked the ball up on the left and drove at the Carniny back line and found Burns who hit a first time shot into the bottom corner of the net for his fourth and Downpatrick’s fifth of the game.
Downpatrick conceded another penalty which Logue was unlucky not to save when he got a hand to but couldn’t keep out. Downpatrick were still looking for more goals Burns returned the favour to Corey McCoubrey with a through ball, the midfielder burst through the Carniny defence, and without breaking stride, rifled a shot into the top right corner.
