- Downpatrick ladies were in action last Wednesday night when they welcomed Portadown Integrated Ladies to DunleathPark. The ladies results have been quite mixed recently and managers Mark Leahy and Mark Holland were looking for an improvement. They got off to the perfect start when Kyla Trainor opened the scoring in the opening five minutes, Portadown got back on level terms when they equalised mid way through the first half. The sides were level going in at half time, but straight after the restart Trainor put Downpatrick in front for her second of the game. Downpatrick held on to this lead until the final ten minutes when Portadown scored again and appeared to break the Downpatrick ladies hearts. Kyla Trainor on the other hand had different ideas, with only seconds remaining the striker scored her and Downpatrick’s third of the game to spark huge celebrations among the large crowd who were down to watch. Next up for the ladies is an away fixture in the League Cup against Linfield Swifts, this match is at Rathmore School, kick off is 7.30pm.
