Club Notes – Week Beginning 23/09/19
- Everyone connected to Downpatrick Football Club would like to pass on their condolences to the Laverty Family on the sudden death of Niall, his sister Colleen is a past player with the ladies team.
- To all the young people of our community (whether you play for Downpatrick FC or not), if you ever need to talk to anyone we have the mechanisms to help. We have the people who you can talk too remember ‘IT’S GOOD TO TALK’,
- Downpatrick welcome Malachians FC this Saturday to Rosconnor, this game kicks off at 2.00pm, and all support welcome. Last Saturday’s Border Cup match was abandoned shortly before half time when the referee deemed player’s safety to be in question due to some Wellington Rec supporters who entered the playing area and player’s technical area under the consumption of alcohol and carrying a glass bottle, at the time of writing the club awaits the leagues decision on the tie.
- The 100 Club Draw for September will be held this weekend either after the first team game or at the Youth Training. Could we ask that all those who have a number in the draw to ensure they’re outstanding money has been paid before the draw.
- The under 19’s got their first win of the season when they defeated Balyclare Colts on Friday night at the Olympia 3G pitch by a score line of 5 – 0. Downpatrick’s goals were scored by Connor Rogan brace and one a piece from Ethan Artt, Conor Doran and Adam Jervis. This Friday night they play Northend United at Jordanstown 3G pitch, this match kicks off at 8.10pm.
- The under 14’s continued their winning start to the season on Saturday when they beat Banbridge Town in a seven goal thriller, PJ Byrne scored two goals, Caolan Deegan and Jake Harding got a goal apiece to finish the scoring. This Saturday they play East Coast Strikers at Ballymacoss Playing Fields, this match kicks off at 11.00am.
- The under 13’s beat Doyle YC on Saturday morning by a 4 – 1 score line, their goals coming from Kyle McGarry who got two, Shea Holland and Matthew McMahon. This Saturday they play Hillsborough Juniors in Ballymacoss at 11.15am.
- The under 12’s where on the wrong side of a seven goal thriller when they were beaten 4 – 3 by Lurgan Town, Downpatricks goals coming from Oisin Hanna and Jack Hynds who got two goals. This Saturday they play Dromara Colts at the Lisburn Leisureplex, with the game kicking off at 10.00am.
- Training for the follow age groups is as follows: 2011’s, 2012’s & 2013’s is on a Monday night from 6.00pm – 7.00pm at the 3G Pitch in the Red High.
