Downpatrick picked up another valuable three points when they travelled to Havelock Park in Banbridge on Saturday morning. Downpatrick started the game of in positive fashion and it wasn’t long before they got their noses in front. Declan Looney who scored four goals in last weeks victory picked the ball up on the right wing before cutting inside and sending a perfect chipped pass into the middle of the box to Corey McCoubrey who volleyed into the far corner.

Banbridge put Downpatrick under some pressure at the beginning of the second half but the Downpatrick defence stood strong. Midway through half Kian Tierney played a one-two with Tom Smyth, Tierney then gave the Banbridge keeper no chance with his first time shot from the edge of the box finding the bottom corner of the Banbridge net. Downpatrick had star performers in Thomas Fitzsimmons, Kyle McKeever who were outstanding in defence and keeper Shane Campbell who kept a clean sheet in his first game back in nets for a number of weeks.
