Downpatrick totally controlled the first 15 minutes and they got their deserved lead. James Peacock cut into the box from the left wing but his cross was cleared out to the edge of the box to Corey McCoubrey. He controlled the ball with his right knee and volleyed in off the crossbar from 30 yards. Downpatrick eased off and this allowed Distillery back into the game as they put Downpatrick under some pressure. This didn’t last long as Declan Looney finished of a McCoubrey cross at the near post to make it 2-0 just before half time.

Downpatrick kept the pressure on early in the second half and won a succession of corners, after the 3rd the ball came through to Caolain Logue who was unmarked at the back post, volleyed the ball through a crowd of players to make it 3-0. Looney was rampant at this stage and every time he went forward he created chances, he was then sent free by Jamie Longfield and form the edge of the box he fired into the bottom left corner of the net. Distillery scored a consolation goal from a late corner when the ball was curled in straight from the kick to make the score 4 – 1.
