Saturday 9^th September – SBYFL under 18’s

Downpatrick FC 1 v North Belfast 5

After last week’s impressive performance Downpatrick went into Saturdays match full of confidence but were quickly brought back down to earth with a heavy defeat. Downpatrick started very slow and were punished for not picking up their men in midfield as North Belfast went 2-0 up in the opening ten minutes. After a few changes the young Downpatrick side improved and started to create chances with Declan Burns coming close on two occasions, but as Downpatrick pressed North Belfast hit them on the counter and scored their third.

Downpatrick continued to cause North Belfast problems in the second half and within ten minutes Burns pulled one back for his side to make it 3-1.  Again Downpatrick attacked and were caught on the counter twice as they worked hard to get back into the game and finished with a 5-1 defeat.
