Club Notes – Week Beginning 13/10/14

  • This Saturday sees the first team welcome current holders of the Border Cup Albert Foundry to Rosconner in the second round. Kick off for this game is 1.30pm, this promises to be a really entertaining game and all support welcome.
  • The seconds play Ballynahinch Olympic 2nds in the league in Dunleath, kick off is 2.00pm.
  • Saturday night saw the Annual Awards Presentation for the ladies in Northern Ireland at the Hilton Hotel. Downpatrick were represented by Player of the Year for Division 1 Orla Boyle. Unfortunately Orla wasn’t successful but she can take great heart in being nominated for such a prestigious award. Congratulations Orla.
  • The Under 13’s endured their second straight defeat on Sunday morning when they played Portaferry. All players were given plenty of game time and were allowed to play in a number of positions to continue their development. Downpatrick’s goal came from Jack Fitzsimons.
  • The Under 11’s played two games at the weekend in the 9-a-side development Mini Soccer against Celtic Bhoys and Newcastle. All three teams displayed some great football and performances, this section continues to improve and grow with more players getting more game time and getting more touches of the ball in a game like environment.
  • This Sunday morning sees the commencement of the Mini Soccer in the Red High for children under 10, Downpatrick aim to have two teams at Under 8 and 10 levels. Parents will be contacted by management about times etc…
  • Training continues on Monday nights for all Mini Soccer age groups, under 11’s and under 13’s at the Red High from 6.00pm – 7.00pm. Next Monday 20th October we will be holding our final ‘Parents Meeting’ in the Function Room of Murphy’s Bar from 8.00pm – 9.00pm. It is important that parents of all the age groups attend this meeting, please note if you have already attended a meeting you don’t need to attend again. Access to the function room can be gained from the rear of the premises via St Patricks Avenue.
