Saturday 11th March – Lisburn Invitational Junior League under 16’s Cup Quarter-Final

Downpatrick FC 2 v Lisburn Distillery (AET)

Downpatrick started with a lot of possession but could convert into chances. At the end of the first half they conceded a free kick just outside the box, which they failed to clear and it ended up in the back of the net to give Distillery a half time lead.

The second half was more of the same, Shane Campbell was introduced as striker and he caused havoc in the Distillery defence.  But it wasn’t until the last minute of the game when Downpatrick moved the ball from back to front, a move that contained ten passes which was finished of by Declan Looney slotting the ball into the bottom left corner of the net, to send the game into extra time.

In extra time Downpatrick flew out of the blocks and within 5 minutes they were ahead, when Looney again poked the ball into the back of the net. Downpatrick showed a lot of character as they closed the game out and professed into the semi-finals.
