Club Notes – Week Beginning 24-04-17
- The First team have three matches remaining, all at home starting this Thursday 27th April, we welcome league leaders Crumlin Star to Rosconnor and kick of is 7.00pm. Then on Wednesday 3rd May we entertain Immaculata, kick off is also 7.00pm and our last game of the season is Rathfriland on Saturday 6th May for a 2.00pm kick off.
- In partnership with Downpatrick RGU we are holding a joint fundraiser known as ‘SKYBALL’, both clubs will be selling tickets for £5.00 with the chance to win a first prize of £1000.00, second prize of £200.00 and three further prizes of £100.00 each. The fundraiser involves people purchasing a ticket, each ticket will be allocated a square on the top grass pitch at the RGU, five balls will be dropped from a helicopter over the pitch and each square that a ball lands in will be prize winners starting with the first prize. To purchase a ticket contact a member of the committee or check out the online option on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
- The seconds signed off their league campaign last Thursday with a victory against Rossglass County by 3 goals to two. Downpatrick’s goals were scored by Shane Matheson, Conor McCarron and Conail Kerr who later went into nets and made some crucial saves including a penalty. Everyone at the club would like to thank manager Marty Murphy and the core of players who turned up week in week out to play, their commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed.
- Everyone at the football club would like to wish Conor Logue a speedy recovery after he broke a bone in his wrist playing for the seconds last Thursday and he won’t be out of action for too long.
- The ladies continue to train in preparation for their season starting next week.
- The under 16’s finish their campaign tonight (Monday) when they play Ballyclare Colts in Wallace Park in Lisburn, this match kicks off at 6.30pm.
- The under 15’s have completed their league campaign and currently sit three points ahead of Celtic Bhoys, should Celtic Bhoys win their outstanding fixture then there will be a play off to win the league.
- The under 13’s continue to prepare for the cup final on Saturday 6th May.
- The 9-a-side development team have entered the Annalong Tournament later in May and continue to train on Monday nights from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
- Mini Soccer returns on Sunday 30th April, coaches will be in touch with the information later in the week.
- Our Mini Soccer returns tonight (Monday 24th April) in St Dillon’s Pitch from 6.30pm – 7.30pm.
- The under 6’s also return tonight (Monday 24th April) in the De La Salle Sports Hall at 6.00pm.
