  • Downpatrick Beat Neighbours Killyleagh YC to Reach Border Cup Semi-Final

    Killyleagh YC 1 v Downpatrick FC 5  Downpatrick progressed to the semi-final of the Border Cup for the second year in a row with a comprehensive win over neighbours Killyleagh YC. A lot of credit needs to go to the Killyleagh ground staff for getting the pitch playable after last week’s torrential rain.

    Downpatrick started well pressing the Distillery defence and making some good attacks in the opening minutes but couldn’t find an opportunity to score. With the weather conditions getting worse by the minute, both teams were struggling to get a foot on the ball.

    In blustery wet conditions Downpatrick continued their winning run with another fine performance when they made the journey to the Ormeau Road to play Rosario. The Downpatrick management were forced into making several changes due to player unavailability but these changes didn’t affect the team’s performance.

  • Kerr’s 5 Star Performance

    Downpatrick ran out comprehensive winners against Kilkeel on Saturday and they had a five star performance from striker Patrick Kerr who bagged himself five goals for the game. Conditions deteriorated through the game but the players have to be commended on some of the football they played on Saturday.
